New normal?Let’s craving for traditional food!

Hello again people! Back with me Naina. I wish everybody is always in good condition. It’s new normal, isn’t it? But everbody please keep yourself healthy and obey the COVID-19 protocol.

It has been a month since I didn’t post anything on my blog. Now, I want to ask you to join me craving for one of traditional foods in my city, Serang Banten. But wait.. before we start craving for the food, I would like to explain to you a little bit about me. Basically I’m just an ordinary girl who loves eating. I love buying some foods eventhough I don’t finish to eat them but at least I have tried them or we call it as “Jajan” in Indonesia.

Since I always find treasure about food, even in a place people never expect it, I always ask my friend to try. A little bit push them actually but it works hehe they try what I recommend to them and they always said “It’s delicious. How can you find it?” See? My passion is looking for some good foods and make a good review about it. I can’t count how many people who have been influenced by me.

My friends always ask me to recommend them some good foods and I really love to help them. As long as they happy, I’m happy too. Besides, happiness isn’t about money right?

Now let’s move on to what food will we eat!

This food called nasi sumsum. Basically, nasi sumsum is nasi bakar but it has beef marrow in it. If nasi bakar has chicken, or beef, but nasi sumsum is more way tasty and juicy. The rice or nasi itself seasoned by red chilli, lemongrass, onion, gralic and many traditional spices.

In my city, a lot of nasi sumsum seller sell nasi sumsum in the afternoon. So it’s kinda late-night food like sate taichan in Senayan. You won’t find it in the morning unless you cook it by your own.

I think the most famous nasi sumsum in Serang is Nasi Sumsum Kang Aspuri. He has been sold this food since 20 years ago But last time I checked, nasi sumsum Kang Aspuri is already getting improve. They add some ingredients like cheese, blackpaper and others to make it as fusion food. Well.. the original still the best,I guess.

I find some opportunities to sell this food in different city such as Jakarta. I never find it anyway on there. I really want to, at least, give my friends, lecturer or anyone to try nasi sumsum and see if they like or not. I will sell near BINUS because nasi sumsum is not that expensive. Trust me, you will only spend IDR 8000 to eat this. Anak kos will looking for this food!

But we won’t go to Nasi Sumsum Kang Aspuri. We will go to one of nasi sumsum seller in Serang which famous too and He sells his food in his house and the way he makes it is still traditional. The price? It’s affordable. The taste is much batter. Now let’s gooo!!!

Everybody’s craving for food!

Who’s ready for Binus Festival? Unfortunately, we can’t feel the ambience of BiFest due to the pandemic. I really want to sell my food in a tent and consumer will come. but it’s ok we still can sell our food through the website. Please visit bisanara.com to see our products!

My friend and I make a group for BiFest. After a long discussion, we decided to sell food because Indonesian always like to eat especially if the food is cheap. We called our business “in Cucina” means In the Kitchen. The next problem is what kind of food will we sell? some of my friends said savory food and some of them said dessert. Why not both?

We try to explore our capabilities and the foods that we will sell are Mini Burger and Regal Pudding. Since we are English Literature students and part of English Department, we named our products with literary sides. We called our burger Rowling buns ( inspired by JK Rowling) and regal pudding as Alice Walker (American Author)

Last Trip Before Pandemic

I hope we all in a good condition and God always protect us. Amin..

It has been 3 months since Covid-19 came to Indonesia. I never thought that we need to stay at home, work from home, study at home, have video conference anytime. I feel sad because I can’t go to campus, meet my friends, or just have normal activity like usual.

I’d like to share to you about my last trip before pandemic. In February, I think Covid-19 was already around Malaysia and Singapore (if I’m not mistaken) I went to Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia for family occasion and short trip. Bacause we already bought the tickets few months ago, and it can’t be refund so we just went as we already scheduled. We were on board around 7 PM and arrived at 10 PM Malaysia Time. Well.. It was fun. We went to Genting for family occasion and ate some good foods. I forgot what I ate on there, but Boba drink always in my mind. Who doesn’t love boba???

I tried boba drink from The Alley. I don’t know whether this brand has came to Indonesia or not, but here’s the review from me. I’m really sorry for not so proper photo because I forgot to take a photo first and really thirsty. hehe what an amateur food blogger.

here’s is the Deerioca series from The Alley. I ordered the fresh milk one. Around RM 18.

It should be like this before we drink
source : Pinterest.com

So this brand is famous in Malaysia also Singapore. You can find the stores in every mall or side of the road. The boba is vey chewy like the Xing Fu Tang one but the milk is not that creamy. I mean the consistency is very light and tasteless. But when you mix it and shake really hard until the brown sugar syrup is gathering with the boba and the milk then the taste will come up. The Alley also has their own signature way to drink the boba. Unfortunately I forgot how should we do before we drink but I will edit this post again after I check it and show to you how to drink. I gave 4 out of 5 because of the boba’s consistency and the taste after the drink completely mix each other. I also tried boba drink from Tealive, one of boba drink brand from Malaysia and the taste is also good but still 1 level below The Alley because it is quite similar with Chatime.. I mean I won’t buy a drink with the same taste that we can find in our country. But surely I will explore another menu in Tealive later also another boba drink brand.

Get to know me more

Well.. it has been 2 months since my last update. if you have read my introductory, this might be the sequel.

So.. when I struggled a lot with everything happened in my life, I try to figure out something new. A lot of my friends said that I’m a creative person, then they suggested me to make something based on what I like. It took a few days to realize what’s my hobby? what kind of activity that I like..hmm..I love everything as long as I have a good mood. Yes.. Good Mood. Since I struggled with depression few months ago I had not any desires to do some activities. Oh maybe mental issue also an interesting topic to talk.On the next post, maybe I will post about this and hopefully everybody can learn and being more active about mental health.

Back to the first topic, then my friend, Nisa said “You have a good taste and always give recommendation about food, and you love to go somewhere else. just write about it. make an Instagram account to post something you like”

After Nisa said that, I try to consider her suggestion. to be honest I always made notes in my phone about food review and had many arguments and comments whenever I ate someting but I never posted it since I also closed my Tumblr few years ago. Lucky me. Sir Irfan introduced me to binusian blog and ask me to post about my interest. I think this chance will be beneficial for me to develop more and do something postive.

Personal Statement

I am girl who came to capital city, Jakarta at the age of 18. I am the one and only child of my family. My family support me a lot for my future. They are full of love and care. Everything’s on its place. However, this behaviour effect me become the one who always depending on someone else. There are some moments in my life that change my life better.

I am an english literature student in Binus University. The first year has passed well. I have a lot of mistakes of being friend with my environment at that time. But then I learn, everything so different here and we cant always get what we want.

On the second year, I start taking job as a part timer in travel company. It’s more like a private company in my hometown. Working as staff or admin in travel company is quite busy. We have to face costumers, meet with them and their behavior are different. The one thing of being an employee in travel company is PATIENT. We have to face them with smile, welcome them with warm heart then we can offer what we have.

Then I start to work as a call centre in one of english course company in Indonesia, EF (English First). It is more hectic than working on travel company. You have target everyday to reach your costumers to come to the weekly event. The challange was actually how to be talkative yet I am a shy person. I had a soft voice. Lucky me, my manager, Ibu Melina trained me and gave feedback about my job. “Speak up. Don’t be shy because everybody has their own “voice” to tell.”

From that experience, I learn many things until now. Being a part timer give many things to experience something. I learn to be dare to speak up loudly (not the tone but self opinion).

Being a literature student also challange me into a good critical thinkers. We have to be dare to state comments or even arguements. Still, those experience make my eyes open that we can have a lot of opportunities we will get unless we want to try, try, and try.

I am eager to learn something new. I am also good at communication because I am easily make good contact with people by listening and talking. I respect all opinions from others and try to do self-reflection.

From Me to You

Hi,it’s Naina. I am 21 years old. I love eating, travelling, and learning history. I usually do all things I love at the same time when I visited new place because I know every place has their own specialty.

Those things are happiness for me. I know that my life is kinda boring. Everything’s flat. Even I am the only one child in my life. My parents always prepare everything for me.
Not everybody know, since junior high school, I had my own blog on tumblr that I shared my personal story how I struggled with my life as teenager.

But I’m 21 now, I try to out from my comfort zone from “a girl who know everything’s on its place to a girl can do better, do it by myself for my own self.”
Now, I have found what I love to escape this hectic world.
